maelynn arnold, violin

MaeLynn Arnold began her life as a violinist at the age of six under the instruction of her mother. She went on to study at the Oberlin Conservatory with Marilyn McDonald at the age of ten and made her solo debut that same year as a soloist with the Northern Ohio Youth Orchestra. She received both her Bachelor of Music Degree and Master of Music degree in violin performance from Boston University. She has studied with Milan Vitek at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, Ani Schnarch at the Royal College of Music in London, Ivan Chan of the Miami String Quartet, Bayla Keyes and Peter Zazofsky at Boston University College of Fine Arts. Ms. Arnold has performed in master classes for such renowned violinists as James Buswell, Christian Tetzlaff, William Preucil, Lucie Robert, Charles Castleman, Lewis Kaplan, Andres Cardenes, and Stephen Clapp. 


Ms. Arnold is currently the concertmaster of the Wellesley Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Max Hobart, and also performs with Boston Pops, Boston Modern Orchestra Project, Odyssey Opera, Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestra of Indian Hill, the Marsh Chapel Players, and Cantata Singers. In April 2009, she participated in the Internationale Junge Orchester Akademie performing on tour in Germany. She has played under conductors Michael TilsonThomas, James Conlon, Pierre Boulez, and Franz Welser Most. 

In 2000, Ms. Arnold founded a trio with her sisters- Danae Anderson and Sarah Arnold- Strings of Gold ( ), performing in concert and in public outreach settings. She currently performs in concert and collaboration with the Denovo Quartet, founded in Boston 2014 ( 

Ms. Arnold is a certified Suzuki instructor and teaches privately at her studio in Arlington. She has served on the faculty at Winchester Community Music School 2015-2017, the South Shore Conservatory from 2010-2014, and the Aurora School of Music in Ohio from 2009-2010. She resides in Arlington with her husband and daughter.
